Our Mission

We are a 24-hour state-wide wildlife emergency service. A community-based, voluntary, not-for-profit, non-political, and registered charity.

The rescue of orphaned and injured wildlife is our specialty. HFW has a number of fully trained teams ready to aid in emergencies. We work with the relevant authorities during bushfire emergencies.

Our Story

A passionate advocate for those without a voice, Denise Garratt was a wildlife carer who dedicated everything to wildlife. In the 90s, Denise established Help for Wildlife. She advocated for the first state-wide road signs with Help for Wildlife’s phone number so that members of the public could easily access assistance with injured or orphaned wildlife.

We are the largest single provider of wildlife help within Victoria, handling over 40,000 calls annually.
